Topor, Roland
(1/7/1938 Zlata Blinsztok-4/16/1997 Paris) (Poland / France)
   Illustrator, painter, poster and stage designer, writer, actor, TV producer, and filmmaker. Studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Beaux-Art in Paris. Promoted by the artist Jacques Sternberg, his surrealist illustrations were reproduced in a number of publications. Co-founder of the surrealist performance group known as the Panic Movement. Perhaps best known as a fiction writer of stories in the fantasy genre and for his pen and ink work. Death and sex were major themes in his work, characterized as "disturbing images and black humor."
